Low pile yes. Deep or shaggy carpet stalls the motor. It is built for hard floors and rugs.
You will hear it rolling on a hard floor. If your cat plays at night and you sleep lightly, shut it in one room or use Normal mode so it switches itself off after five minutes.
Interest varies by cat. Put the toy away for several days, then reintroduce it, and rotate the three colors to help maintain novelty.
Normal mode runs for five minutes and then stops. Intelligent mode can restart when the ball is nudged, which suits cats that return to play in short sessions.
It can end up under a sofa. In Normal mode it shuts off after five minutes so it will not run flat under there.
Supervise play, especially during the first sessions. Inspect the casing regularly and stop using the toy if it becomes cracked, damaged or accessible to a determined chewer.
Moving toys can add short chase-and-pounce sessions to an indoor cat’s routine. They supplement interactive play with you rather than replacing it.
