A big dog eating off the floor is holding a press-up through every meal.
Watch a tall dog at a floor bowl: front legs splayed, neck cranked down, spine bent. Three minutes, three times a day, for years. For a young dog it’s nothing. For an older one, or a deep-chested breed, or a dog with any neck or elbow stiffness, it’s the least comfortable part of the day.
Raising the bowl to roughly the height of your dog’s lower chest lets them eat standing square. That’s the whole mechanism.
How to pick your height
Measure from the floor to your dog’s chest — the bottom of the ribcage, where the front legs meet the body. Set the bowl rim near that line. If your dog has to reach up, it’s too high; if the neck still bends down, go up a notch.

Raised feeders are often marketed as preventing bloat (gastric dilatation-volvulus). The evidence does not support that. A well-known Purdue University study actually found raised bowls associated with higher bloat risk in large and giant breeds — the opposite of the marketing claim.
We sell this for posture and comfort, and because it keeps bowls from being shoved around the kitchen. If you have a deep-chested breed — Great Dane, Standard Poodle, Weimaraner, Setter — ask your vet before switching to raised feeding. We’d rather lose the sale than repeat a claim that isn’t true.
Questions people actually ask
Are bowls included?
No. This is the adjustable stand only. It fits standard bowls measuring 6–10″ across the top — measure yours before ordering.
How do I know what height to set?
Measure floor to the bottom of your dog’s chest and set the bowl rim near that height. Your dog should eat standing square, not reaching up and not craning down.
Will it slide on tile?
The frame is heavier than a plastic bowl, so it moves much less. On very slick tile with an enthusiastic eater, put a rubber mat underneath.
Does raised feeding prevent bloat?
No, and be sceptical of anyone who says it does. Research has linked raised bowls to increased bloat risk in large and giant breeds. Buy this for posture and comfort, and speak to your vet if you own a deep-chested breed.
Can two dogs share it?
It holds two bowls, but only at one height — so it works for two similarly sized dogs, not a Chihuahua and a Labrador.

Items that have been assembled, used by a pet or washed cannot be returned for hygiene reasons, so please check the dimensions and weight limits before ordering.
If your item arrives damaged, incomplete or not as described, email us with a photo within 30 days and we will replace it or refund you in full. You will not be asked to ship a damaged item back at your own cost.
