A dog lying on a cushion is lying on an insulator. In summer that's the problem.
Dogs shed heat mainly by panting, but a meaningful amount also leaves through the belly and the pads — the thinly furred surfaces pressed against whatever they're lying on. A padded bed traps that heat against them. A raised mesh cot does the opposite: air moves underneath, and body heat has somewhere to go.
That's why you'll see a dog abandon an expensive bed in July and sleep on the kitchen tiles. This gives them a better version of the tiles.
What it's for, beyond summer
In winter the same 7-inch clearance lifts an older dog off a cold concrete or tile floor. It works both directions.
Taut mesh distributes weight rather than letting elbows and hips bottom out, which is why cots suit bony older dogs.
Nothing absorbs. Mud, drool and rain go straight through and the mesh dries in minutes.

Is this the right size?
Measure your dog stretched out on its side, then add a few inches. That number needs to be under 35″.

Cots feel unfamiliar — they flex slightly underfoot, which some dogs dislike at first. Put it where your dog already sleeps, drop a familiar blanket on one half so there’s a choice, and feed a couple of meals beside it. Most dogs are using it within a week. Don’t lift your dog onto it.
Questions people actually ask
Can it live outside permanently?
It handles rain and hoses clean, but constant UV will weaken any mesh over a season or two. Under cover it lasts considerably longer.
Does the mesh sag over time?
Some initial give is normal as it settles. Persistent sagging usually means the dog is over the 70 lb rating.
Is assembly hard?
Slot the frame together and stretch the mesh over it. Ten minutes. The last corner is always the stiff one — that’s the tension doing its job.
Will it scratch my floor?
The feet are silicone, so no. They also stop it sliding when a dog jumps on.
Can I add a pad on top?
You can, and we sell waterproof cot pads separately — but adding a pad removes the airflow that makes a cot worth having in summer. Best in winter, not July.

Returns. You can return an unused item in its original packaging within 30 days for a full refund. Message us first and we will issue a return authorisation — there is no restocking fee. Items that have been assembled, used by a pet or washed cannot be returned for hygiene reasons, so please check the dimensions and weight limits before ordering.
If your item arrives damaged, incomplete or not as described, email us with a photo within 30 days and we will replace it or refund you in full. You will not be asked to ship a damaged item back at your own cost.
